On the 30th November 2017 a colorful handover ceremony of renovated Out-Patient Department by the Chinese Embassy took place at Jembo Rural Health Center. In attendance was the Guest of Honor Madame Geng Hailing; wife of Chinese Ambassador and her delegation, Bishop Alfred Kalembo, Pemba District Commissioner Mr Mugoba, Mrs Ethel Matibini; wife of the Speaker of National Assembly, National Medical Director for PWC; Mr Mungoni Simulilika , DO for Jembo Rev Moono, Village Headmen, Staff for Jembo Secondary & Primary, Parents, Students from Jembo and media people.
Madame Geng Hailing spoke on behalf of Chinese Embassy and the Chinese Ambassador to Zambia. She congratulated PWC on the completion of the renovated OPD. She also expressed gratitude towards Mrs Matibini for coming up with the idea and helping to see it come alive; Bishop Kalembo for providing many constructive proposals and Mr Xiao and his company for the work of renovation.
Bishop Kalembo spoke representing Pilgrim Wesleyan Church and gave thanks to the Chinese Embassy for their generosity and also to Mrs Matibini and Jembo staff. Bishop Kalembo went on to invite all stakeholders to continue in partnership of turning Jembo into an area of development in medical, education and economy.
District Commissioner for Pemba District, Mr Mugoba invited people from Pemba to think about how to help Pemba. He expressed his joy to Mrs Matibini for thinking of her community. He said it is his wish for the clinic to revert back to its original status.
Mrs Matibini spoke as the community representative, village headwomen for village Hamweemba and as student alumni of Jembo. She said through her interactions with Madame Hailing they were able to do something. Lastly she urged the community to look after the renovated building.
Renovations amounted to $20 000 USD.
In addition the clinic received a donation of 2 computers from Mr Xiao and his company.
